To maintain the barge as directed by the Company and Master (FAB’s)
Valid ENG1 (medical fitness certificate) or accepted equivalent;
Vaccination certificates for the location of the barge;
Personal Survival Techniques (STCW Code – Table A-VI/1-1);
Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (STCW Code – Table A-VI/1-2);
Advanced Fire Fighting (STCW Code – Table A-VI/3);
Elementary First Aid (STCW Code – Table A-VI/1-3);
Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (STCW Code - Table A-VI/1-4);
Conversant in written and spoken English language. NB: Where English is not first language a valid;
Marlins certificate with a minimum 80% and TOSE Intermediate level is required;
STCW Reg A-III/2 (Second Engineer Unlimited) Certificate of Competency. Valid Flag State Certificate of Competency;
Desirable:
Strong background in engineering stemming from a marine based environment.
Bibby Progress - Familiar with Caterpillar C3406 & C32 Diesel Generators.
Bibby Renaissance – Familiar with Volvo D16 & D9 Diesel Generators.
Conversant with electronic control systems, if applicable.
Ability to work within and form part of a small tight team.
Health & Safety awareness.
Good interpersonal skills, presentable, pleasant personality, self-motivated.
Hands on and prepared to perform a variety of tasks under instruction and using own initiative.
Flexible in outlook.
Ensure that the barge is fully maintained for the operation, bearing in mind the projected project and ensure that they are familiar with the commercial arrangements, in particular the terms of the hire agreement. This work may not necessarily be electrical or electronic.
Ensure all work is carried out with due regard to health and safety risks.
Report all accidents & incidents immediately to the Master (FAB’s).
Directly responsible for all work & operations performed in the machinery spaces, according to standing orders and for the maintenance, safe operation of the auxiliary engines and plant equipment.
Directly responsible for all work being carried out in accordance with the Integrated Management System, Planned Maintenance System, standing orders and good engineering practise.
Ensure that the cleaning & housekeeping of machinery spaces is carried out at all times.
Updates the PMS when job orders have been completed and maintains spare part stock and future requirements of engine spare parts and stores.
Supervise the Fitter and other ratings working in the machinery spaces, to ensure safe working conditions & practices.
Responsible for overseeing the bunkering of fuel and lubrication oil, and transferring to barge or shore based facilities of used oil, sludge and residual liquids.
