To maintain the barge as directed by the Company and Master
Valid ENG1 (medical fitness certificate) or accepted equivalent;
Vaccination certificates for the location of the barge;
Personal Survival Techniques (STCW Code – Table A-VI/1-1);
Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (STCW Code – Table A-VI/1-2);
Elementary First Aid (STCW Code – Table A-VI/1-3);
Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (STCW Code - Table A-VI/1-4);
Conversant in written and spoken English language. NB: Where English is not first language a valid; Marlins certificate with a minimum 55% and TOSE Lower Intermediate level is required;
Recognised trade certificate (Fitter / Turner / Machinist) with experience of fitting & turning, welding and safe use of oxy-acetylene equipment;
Ensure all work is carried out with due regard to health and safety risks.
Report all accidents & incidents immediately to the Master (FAB’s).
Follow and ensure that maintenance work delegated by the Engineer is carried out in a proper manner and safely.
Keep the engine room workshop clean and in good order.
Keep good order and stock control in engine room consumable stores, advise the Engineer of parts used and reorder used parts if required.
May be called at any time as circumstances may require.
Any other duties as assigned by the Engineer.
Promote and maintain a good working relationship with other departments, third party personnel and client representatives, as required.
